Carpet Tile Installation in Seabrook

Carpet tile is soft carpet cut into squares or planks. When one gets stained or worn, you lift it out and press a new one in. We help you pick the right tile, prep the floor properly and plan for the swaps you will make years from now.

What Carpet Tile Is Good For

Carpet tile comes in squares, usually 24 inches, or longer planks. Each piece has its own backing and sits on a light release adhesive. That means you can pull one up without tearing the rest of the floor apart.

It fits rooms that take a beating. Playrooms, game rooms, home offices and kids' bedrooms are the usual ones. If you have a spot where juice, paint or pet accidents keep happening, carpet tile lets you fix that spot instead of the whole room.

The best time to call us is before the old carpet is past saving. If you know the playroom needs redoing next year, we can walk you through products and costs now so you can budget for it. If you want wall-to-wall broadloom instead, see our carpet installation page.

What Our Carpet Tile Work Includes

Measuring and layout plan

We measure the room and decide where the first row starts so you don't end up with skinny slivers at a doorway. We also show you the pattern options, like quarter-turn, monolithic or brick-style ashlar.

Old floor removal

We pull up old carpet, pad and tack strip and haul it off. Tack strip leaves nail holes in the slab, so we fill those before anything new goes down.

Slab check and prep

Most homes around here sit on concrete slabs, and humid air can push moisture up through them. We test for moisture, patch cracks and grind down high spots so the tiles lie flat and the adhesive holds.

Installation and trim

Tiles go down on release adhesive, cut tight to walls and under door jambs. We finish doorways with transitions that match the floor next to it.

Spare tiles set aside

We order extra from the same dye lot and leave them with you, boxed and labeled. Tiles bought later can be a slightly different shade, so spares from day one are what make future swaps look right.

Signs Carpet Tile Makes Sense for You

  • One spot keeps getting ruined

A stain by the craft table or the pet bowl comes back no matter how often it's cleaned. With tiles, that square gets replaced in a few minutes.

  • Worn paths in a busy room

You can see a gray lane from the door to the couch. Carpet tile lets you rotate pieces from under furniture so wear spreads out.

  • The room is changing use

A playroom turning into an office, or a spare room becoming a gym. Carpet tile handles chair wheels and equipment better than plush carpet.

  • You want to plan the cost ahead

If the carpet has a year or two left, now is a good time to price it out. You can set money aside without being rushed into a decision.

How a Carpet Tile Job Runs

  1. 1

    Phone call and planning

You tell us about the room and how it gets used. We talk through tile types and backing, and give you your quote by phone once we have what we need.

  2. 2

    Product and timing

You pick a color and pattern. We order the tile plus spares and set a date that works around your schedule, not a rush date.

  3. 3

    Tear-out and prep

On install day we move furniture, pull the old floor and get the slab clean, flat and dry. Most of the noise and dust happens here, and we keep it to that room.

  4. 4

    Laying the tile

We snap lines, set tiles row by row and cut the edges. Most single rooms are done in a day.

  5. 5

    Walkthrough and cleanup

We put the furniture back, vacuum and walk the room with you. You get your spare tiles and a quick rundown on how to swap one out.

What Moves the Price of Carpet Tile

Carpet tile pricing comes down to the room, the product and what's under the old floor. We can't know that last one until the carpet comes up, so we tell you up front what could change the number and why.

Room size and shape
More square footage means more tile. Closets, angled walls and lots of doorways add cuts and labor time.
Tile and backing type
Hard-backed commercial-style tile costs less than thicker cushion-back tile meant for bedrooms. Plank shapes and specialty patterns can add to it.
Slab condition
A flat, dry slab is quick to prep. Cracks, old glue, uneven spots or high moisture readings take more work before tile can go down.
Removal and furniture
Hauling off old carpet and pad, and moving heavy pieces like bookcases or a pool table, adds time to the job.

Carpet Tile Questions

Something not covered here? (346) 676-8873

Can I really pull up just one tile?

Yes. The adhesive we use holds the tile in place but lets it release. You lift the damaged piece, press a spare into the same spot and you're done. We show you how before we leave.

Will it look like a checkerboard?

It depends on the pattern you choose. A monolithic layout, with all tiles facing one way, looks a lot like regular carpet. A quarter-turn layout shows the squares more, but it hides seams and wear well. We bring samples so you can see both.

Is carpet tile soft enough for a bedroom?

Cushion-back tiles feel close to carpet with pad underneath. Thinner hard-backed tiles are firmer and better for offices and playrooms. We'll tell you which fits how the room gets used.

How many spare tiles should I keep?

For most rooms we suggest a box or so beyond what the floor needs, more for a busy playroom. Keep them flat in a closet indoors, not in a hot garage. That way the color and backing stay matched.

Can it go over my concrete slab?

Usually, once the slab passes a moisture test and is flat. If moisture is high, we'll explain your options before any tile goes down. We'd rather slow down than lay a floor that lets go later.
